SAM COLLINSON - MY STORY
As a preacher, pastor, content creator, and musician, I emphasise the need for revival—the work of the Holy Spirit to heal, save and deliver. My heart’s desire is to influence you towards deeper faith in Jesus Christ.
As a young man I had a powerful encounter with God. Once I was sceptical of such things, being both anti-God and anti-Christian in my teenage years. Through reading the bible, I began to change my mind. In the summer of 2007, I finally said a huge ‘yes’ to Jesus at an event. After going through water baptism later that year, I understood that I was receiving the Spirit of God. I became passionate about learning Bible truth and being an ambassador for God. I could not keep this spiritual awakening to myself and so I naturally began sharing about Christ with family and friends.
I began my preaching and worship ministry in the church early on. I was fully aware that I would face some pushbacks in this life change. When I could not answer a difficult question, I would step away to read and research - returning with solid answers. This rigorous study of the bible & philosophy grounded me.
EVIDENCE AND EXPERIENCE
Although my ‘subjective’, ongoing experience of God’s power was very personal to me, I also discovered a wealth of objective truth for the bold claims of Christianity. I continued to grow in my love for science and philosophy, which helped me understand the astounding case for divine design found in the universe. As I studied subjects like DNA in my A-levels, I could see the undeniable hand of God. I also began to study the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus and other biblical events.
Time and time again, I would meet people who had profound stories of faith, including those who had near-death experiences, miraculous healings, and more.
After a short missionary trip to Europe with an amazing group of people, I returned for ministry training at Regents Theological College, England.
The more I stepped out in faith, I even began to see God perform miracles before my own eyes - I have made some videos about these stories.
Jesus promised that those who believe will see these signs as they share the Gospel. I’ve always taken the Bible at face value with such things. The Bible is a supernatural book and there is so much to experience if we really believe the Words of God.
I met my wonderful wife - Hannah - whilst studying theology. I found that she was equally as passionate for the things of God.
Since our wedding we have served in churches whilst raising our family. It was after several years of working in various jobs (mainly in education settings) that I stepped into a pastoral ministry role at a Pentecostal Church in 2018. During this season in Norfolk, I also began to connect with other like-minded evangelists. God was creating a new network for a purpose that I could not fully comprehend right away.
RETURNING TO CAMBRIDGE
In 2023, after sensing God’s call, we moved back to Cambridge. I returned to the workplace, no longer leading a church, but making steps towards a new way of life and service to God.
In 2024, we strongly connected with a ministry called Presence Revival who encouraged us to pursue our calling. Over time, a ministry vision and a strategy began to emerge for Highways Ministry UK.
